PMTS Direct Parallel® Short Turn Camp at Arapahoe Basin, Colorado
As an alternative, consider taking a PMTS Direct Parallel® Camp at Welch Village, MN. Welch Village has excellent snowmaking and grooming. Their instructors are PMTS accredited, and several of them work at our camps, so you will receive top-level instruction. You can also book a Premium Private Lesson with one of their Accredited PMTS coaches. Contact email@example.com
The Short Turn Camp has been a real hit with our skiers. If you've read Anyone Can Be An Expert Skier 2, you know that a bulletproof short turn is the key to all-mountain skiing. Whether you aspire to ski narrow slopes, steeps, moguls, powder, or ice, we'll help you learn a short turn that will enable you to ski all those conditions with control and confidence. Start your season with a new capability to venture further on the mountain. You must be comfortable on western blue and black groomed slopes to attend.
An assessment of your alignment is part of the camp. The on-snow balance assessment will take place during the lesson hours, while indoor assessments will take place Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons, outside of the lesson times. Any participants wishing to make changes to their equipment as a result of the assessment will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis outside of the lesson hours.
Most time will be spent on groomed terrain. The lessons will focus on efficient technique, with sufficient practice time and personal feedback. Video analysis will be used to help you improve. There will be a maximum of six skiers per group to ensure significant personal attention. Includes 3 hours of instruction each day.
Boots, Footbeds, and Alignment "pre-day"
If you know that you would like to get new boots, have footbeds made, or if you would like the complete indoor alignment assessment, we encourage you to come to camp at least one day early. This gives us more time to finalize your fit and alignment. Indoor alignment sessions for campers are offered at our Dumont Ski Shop on the days prior to camp. Contact us for more information.
Session 1: December 2-6, 2019 (Monday-Friday)
approximately 9:00 - 12:30 each day
Lift Ticket Cost
The camp price does not include lift tickets. Arapahoe Basin has many good deals for lift tickets, including season passes. We will send you more information on purchasing your lift tickets when you enroll, or as soon as that information is available through Arapahoe Basin.
We have one social gathering during camp (Monday afternoon) where we meet for drinks and appetizers. Attendance is optional, but we encourage all to come. It's a lot of fun to meet the campers who are skiing in other groups. Dress is casual. More details will be given at camp.
Travel & Lodging Information
Arapahoe Basin is one of the select few Colorado resorts that offer superior early-season conditions. We should have good skiing on a variety of groomed runs.
Arapahoe Basin ("A-Basin") ski area is located about 70 miles west of Denver International Airport on US Highway 6. There is no lodging at A-Basin. Most campers stay in Summit County—Silverthorne, Frisco, Dillon—about a 15 minute drive west of A-Basin. Summit County offers a large array of dining and lodging choices, and is located along Interstate 70. See A-Basin's web site for more information about lodging options, driving directions, etc.
